Mid-December, Rat and Mole are traveling home from an adventure when Mole senses that his old home is nearby. During their visit, Badger tells them his plan to confront Toad over his driving habit, which has become reckless and expensive. They walk around for hours, until fortunately discovering Badger's front door.īadger invites them into his home, where they rest for a few days. After a nap to recover Mole's strength, they journey back home, but are waylaid by snow. He rushes after him, and finds him after hours of searching. Later, Rat wakes from his nap and realizes what Mole has done. He soon enough gets lost and hides, terrified of various creatures he sees and hears there. Months later, Mole sneaks out from Rat's home into the Wild Wood, despite his mentor's warnings. Neither Rat nor Mole can break him from his daze. Rat tries to take charge, since the caravan is wrecked, but Toad becomes instantly obsessed with the automobile and its speed. On their second day of travel, the caravan is run off the road by a fast-moving automobile.

He convinces Mole and Rat to join him on his first adventure, much to Rat’s chagrin. Toad has recently taken up a number of different hobbies, and they learn about his newest: traveling around in a horse-drawn caravan. He lives in a grand house called Toad Hall. After a long afternoon boating down the river, Rat invites Mole to live with him.ĭuring that adventure, Mole also learns about Badger and Toad, and develops a curiosity to meet them both.īecause Badger prefers to be alone, Rat takes Mole to meet Toad, a rich animal with a very short attention span. He soon discovers a small river community out in the country, and makes a new friend in Rat. One day while spring cleaning, Mole feels a sudden dissatisfaction and leaves his underground home. This book has a good moral value to everyone.The Wind in the Willows follows several animals throughout their adventures in the English countryside. Because now i'm reading contemporary YA novel, for you-who start reading english books-i prefer you start with YA novel because it has easier words and the words/vocabulary used are daily conversation.

But in my opinion, this book has a lot of difficult words for a beginner like me. And of course, because i'm a beginner, everytime i found words that i don't understand, i searched it on my dictionary and wrote it on my notebook xD.įor the story itself, this book sure can entertain readers from kids till adult readers. But after 30 or 50 pages, i started to know the story itself. I start to read in english because yeah, can i say that it's interesting to read in english?Īt first 10 pages, i still don't know what the author wants to tell me. But honestly i'm not dissapointed at all! And whoa, because i'm not used to read in english, it was like 'trouble' for me to read english book. First of all, i'd like to say that it's my first experience reading english book.
